If the words waterproof jacket make you think of the awful blue anorak your Dad used to wear when you went out in the rain as a child, you’re not the only one. There is a nation of young adults just as scarred as you.
The good news is that Paul Smith is trying to change that with his own range of waterproof jackets that he hopes will breed a new, much more stylish waterproof Dad, and from what I’ve seen he’s done a pretty good job.
Styled out of a black nylon the Paul Smith designers have tried to take a classic look and funk it up a bit, and through by introducing some interesting cuts and keeping it simple I think they have.
The jacket as a whole is a half zip affair that’s going to need pulling on and off over your head, which I know doesn’t sound ideal, but is done for good reason – by only cutting half the jacket, they have much more control over styling giving you a much closer and neater fit than if it has been zipped from top to bottom.
Styled at the back with a button ruched hood, this waterproof jacket from Paul Smith might not be the most stylish thing you’ll ever buy, but is definitely going to have you being the best looking guy on the sidelines or on the soggy high street.
